This Halloween cross-stitch design is fun and beginner-friendly. Display it in a picture frame or hoop and you’ll have a cute handmade decoration for Halloween.
As I’ve mentioned before, it’s pumpkin season and I am the most festive person I know. Therefore, this Halloween cross-stitch design screams me. Recently, I just started getting into cross-stitch/needlepoint/embroidery and I love it. There’s only one reason why I don’t love it and that’s because it makes me feel old. My vision is pretty terrible to begin with, but sometimes my eyes just don’t want to cooperate with stitches so small and it reminds me that I’m getting older (I’m only 27, sooo I have a ways to go before I’m officially “old”).
The design for this Halloween cross-stitch is easy. Click here for a tutorial on how to do cross-stitch. Once you get the hang of it, it’s very simple.
Supplies Needed for Halloween Cross-Stitch
- 3 different colored embroidery thread
- orange thread for “I LOVE HALLOWEEN.”
- purple thread for “It’s Fricken BATS”
- black thread for the bats
- embroidery needle
- cross-stitch fabric
Note: Use two strands of thread for the words and bats.
I started out by cutting the cross-stitch fabric with fabric scissors into a 6×4″ piece. Then, I thread my needle with two strands of orange embroidery thread and started with the words “I LOVE HALLOWEEN.” and worked my way up from there. For the quote, I used two different colors, but you can use as many or as little as you’d like. I did the bats last because it was easier to count how many squares over they were from the words than it would have been if I just counted without the words.
I just picked up a black 4×6″ frame at Walmart for like $3.50. It works with the Halloween theme.
